A browser tab is a spare tire, not the whole car.
Kingsoft offers web access for some accounts. It is useful on a locked-down PC. It is not a reason to skip official desktop or store installs on your own machine. This site is an independent handbook and is not affiliated with Kingsoft Office Software Corporation Limited.
When the web path helps
Library PCs, a friend’s laptop, a quick comment on a cloud DOCX. Sign out when you leave. Do not stay signed in on a shared machine. Bookmark wps.com yourself so a search ad cannot clone the login.
When it fails
Large XLSX, heavy PPTX masters, mail merge, and some PDF tools still want the desktop suite. Offline work wants a local install from official channels. A browser tab is a spare tire, not the whole car.
Phishing look-alikes
A search ad that clones the login is how accounts vanish. If a page asks for your password and the hostname is not wps.com, close it.
Accounts
Web editing implies a Kingsoft account. If you only needed local Writer, you did not need this path. Recovering that account is a vendor job, not an editor’s job.
